We are looking for a DevOps Clojure Engineer to join who will provide software development of ELiT's suite of web applications, including Write & Improve and Speak & Improve, the APIs, including DevOps support for those same products as well as the Annotation Tool and the Automarking.

DevOps Code Writing using Clojure & ClojureScript
DevOps Support
Deployment to Production
Agility, Knowledge Sharing, and Learning & Development
What will you do in this role?
Working under the supervision of the ELiT Software Engineering Manager in the UK, you will:
Write high-quality full stack code to agreed requirements using Clojure and appropriate languages and technologies.
Collaborate with other team members to plan, design, build, deploy and support the components of the applications.
Deploy and upgrade 3rd party code to cloud systems
Spread technology knowledge across the Software Engineering team and the wider business through knowledge sharing sessions.
Operate in a high-frequency deployment model
What makes you an ideal candidate for this position?
You will be ideal for this role if you are willing to work Monday to Friday 10:00 – 18:00 (PH Time). However, there will be a need on occasions to work outside these hours to support incidents, staffing issues and support releases into production. This could include weekend working, although this is rare. The role shall involve working with our UK and outsourced teams that work outside of PH hours. It is expected that flexibility and appreciation of the constraints this may place on communications should be acknowledged.
In addition, having the following experience, knowledge or expertise would give you an advantage:
Experience working with modern web development technologies, cloud and serverless (AWS)
Experience working with relational and NoSQL and Postgres databases
Experience working on ETL pipelines and databases
Proven experience implementing services with frontend and backend code, g. using Clojure, ClojureScript
Experience working with rich single-page web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (React)
Working knowledge of at least one functional programming language
Commercial experience with at least one programming language.
Some experience of APIs
A relevant degree or demonstrable equivalent experience in a technical discipline
