Job description
Who we are: Spatial Informatics Group (SIG) is part think-tank, part software incubator. We work with partners in government, philanthropy, and the private sector to apply science and geospatial data to help solve earth’s climate-related problems. SIG was formed in 1998 as a collaboration between several university professors, and we retain our academic roots. We are a 100% remote company with headquarters in California and more than 100 souls working around the globe.

We are looking for a Full Stack Web Developer to report to our Senior Product Manager Lead. The person who fills this role can be located in US compatible time zones. This role will support software projects across the domains of the company, so project/product focus may change overtime.

You are a great candidate if you bring to SIG:

Required:
Experience in Clojure/Clojurescript or experience in either Java/Javascript and/or a different Lisp dialect (e.g., Scheme, Common Lisp)
Familiar with functional reactive UI development using ReactJS and/or Reagent
Familiar with functional programming techniques (e.g., pure functions, immutable data, closures, laziness, function composition, memoization)
Experience with SQL DB programming in Postgresql (bonus points for PostGIS experience)
Good at working in a distributed team environment with frequent text, voice, and video communications with other developers
Fluent in version control procedures with Git and Github/Gitlab, including creating/closing issues, creating/reviewing/merging pull requests, and good branch management
Comfortable working in a Linux environment from the command line and administrating remote servers over SSH
Nice to have:
Experience with web mapping libraries (e.g., Mapbox) and/or web mapping services (i.e., WMS, WCS, WFS) and servers (e.g., GeoServer)
Experience with GeoServer and WMS/WCS/WFS
Experience with geospatial processing using PostGIS, GeoTools, and/or GDAL/OGR

What SIG offers to you:

100% remote with flexible schedule and work/life balance
Full suite of benefits including healthcare, dental, vision, life insurance, paid holidays, retirement savings (401k), paid family leave, bereavement leave, and paid time off
The opportunity to combine analytics with creativity
A visible role in a community of thought-leaders, scientists, and world problem-solvers

Application Deadline: Interviews will be on a rolling basis. Applications will be continuously reviewed until suitable candidates are identified.

Terms of employment: The position is recruited on a full time employment basis. In addition, part-time consultancy work may also be considered depending on the experience and availability of the candidate.

SIG is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to diversity which includes the recognition that our success is best advanced by the leadership and contributions of women and men of diverse backgrounds, beliefs and culture. We encourage applicants from all cultures, races, colors, religions, sexes, national or regional origins, ages, disability status, sexual orientation, gender identity, military, or other status protected by law.
