Job description
The Senior Back End Software Developer is responsible for implementing the company’s vision for a web and mobile user interface to our SREC aggregation platform. Candidates should expect to spend approximately 75% of their time designing, writing, and testing Clojure code.

This position is generally expected to work in the office for at least two weeks per year. At all other times the employee is expected to use company-specified remote communication tools (Slack, etc).

Team Relationships
The Senior Back End Software Developer position reports directly to the Director of Software Engineering and works closely with other key staff, including the VP of Aggregation.

Principal Responsibilities
Conceives, develops, and implements new backend capabilities and services.
Maintains and improves existing Clojure software.
Clearly communicates with management and colleagues on a regular basis.
Tests and maintains software products to ensure strong functionality and optimization.
Surfaces and manages technical debt.
Collaborates with external teams as needed for technical implementations.
Leads and mentors’ junior software developers.

Desired Skills and Experience
Degree required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is preferred.
A minimum of five years’ experience in web software development.
Strong knowledge of Clojure as a platform for web servers.
Excellent coding skills and appreciation for functional patterns, state management and GraphQL APIs.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to navigate changing priorities.
Attention to detail.
Able to work autonomously while striving for transparency.
